Hi Everyone,
What a great couple of days we have had getting this unit started! THREE IMPORTANT ITEMS BELOW:
1. Tonight's work - like last night's - includes 20 minutes of written reflection on your learning experiences in this morning's humanities block.
2. Also, if you have not completed it, make sure that you and your partner have finished your Bridges of the Bay Area paper. See description below:
Work with your partner to compose a short, typed, well-written paper about your bridge. This needs to be based on on-line research, and WRITTEN IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Also, you must cite whatever references you use (just the web address will do for this exercise).
We will share these papers with one another on Thursday.
The minimal information to be included (please do more as inspiration demands):
The Basics
Name of your bridge
Where is it (see the Bay Area map in the main room)?
When was it built?
How much did it cost?
From what materials is it made?
What type of bridge design is it?
How long is it?
How tall is it?
History and Culture
Please describe why it was built.
• What people and/or places needed to be connected and why?
• Who advocated for the bridge to be built?
• How long did construction take?
• Was there any notable opposition to its construction?
Has it been changed over time? If so, why?
Does this bridge still play a major role in the Bay Area Culture? If so, how?
Please include at least one picture in your paper.
Have fun and good luck!
3. ONE LAST THING! REMEMBER THAT OUR BRIDGES FIELD TRIP IS NEXT TUESDAY!
